The 2024 Henry McMahon Children’s Advocacy Award is presented to David Evans
The 2024 Henry McMahon Children’s Advocacy Award is presented to David Evans, the retiring CEO of Integral Care. During his 30-year career as Integral Care’s CEO, David Evans helped to strengthen children’s mental health systems of care and to promote collaboration across child serving agencies. In 2014, Integral Care funded a consultant to work with Kids Living Well and other community partners to create the first Children’s Mental Health Plan. Kids Living Well agreed to oversee the implementation and updates to this community Plan. The original plan was updated in 2021 with the Travis County Plan for Children’s Mental Health and Substance Misuse, and Kids Living Well is now working on the next update to the five-year plan to be released in 2026.
The Children’s Mental Health Plan is a tool to help move the needle forward in improving services for children and youth in our community. It strengthens collaborations among child-serving agencies. The Children’s Crisis Respite Center, Intensive Children’s MCOT, Ask Listen Talk Repeat campaign, expanded Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings, two professional development summits and a data dashboard are examples of some of the actions that have come out of the Plan.
This Kids Living Well award is named for Henry McMahon who volunteered tirelessly on behalf of children and families to strengthen the children’s mental health systems of care.
